A sound that tastes like tamarind and dark chocolate. It might take you aback, but you will keep coming back to it.
Prerna Singh is a Delhi-born, London-based DJ, producer and architectural designer. Her journey into music began during architecture school, the first time she heard Charlotte de Witte's Ensemble. She realised techno was what she had been looking for. During Covid her mother bought her a DDJ-400, and she never looked back.
She works where techno meets Indian classical music: the ragas of the sitar and the squelch of the TD-3 acid synth, structured as contemporary techno. Listening feels like walking into a forest where something ancient and something electronic are performing a ritual together.
Trained in Indian classical singing as a teenager and now deepening her practice on sitar, this tradition is not borrowed. Sitar, tabla, flute, santoor and classical vocals are her truest form of expression. Techno is her act of resistance as a Dalit woman, from one of the most historically oppressed communities in India.
Self-taught on Ableton, a queer Dalit woman building herself from zero in London with no connections and no blueprint, she has spent six years DJing and five producing, alongside three degrees across two continents. She has released on Adhesive Records and Dynamic Berlin, played Corsica Studios, E1, Egg and Venue MOT, had music on BBC Radio 1, and hosts Why Can't Sitar Be Sexy? on Love Will Save The Day FM. In July 2026 she played her first international gig, in Berlin.
